How to use the stopwatch
Press Start to begin timing and Lap to record split times without stopping.
Each lap shows its own time and the running total, with the fastest and slowest laps highlighted. Press the
space bar to start and stop.
How to use the countdown timer
Set hours, minutes and seconds, or pick a preset, then press Start. When time runs out an alarm
sounds and the page title flashes so you'll notice even in another tab.

Frequently asked questions
Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. Time is measured from the system clock rather than by counting ticks, so it stays accurate even when the tab is in the background or your device is busy. The alarm plays when you come back if your browser paused sounds.
Will the timer make a sound?
Yes. When the countdown reaches zero, an alarm beeps and the page title flashes. Make sure your device isn't muted. Some browsers only allow sound after you've clicked on the page once.
How accurate is the stopwatch?
It shows hundredths of a second and is accurate to a few milliseconds, which is more than enough for workouts, cooking and games. It isn't certified for official sports timing.
Can I use it full screen?
Yes. Click “Full screen” to show the time in large digits, which is handy for presentations, classrooms and exercise.
