How to use the currency converter
Enter an amount and choose the two currencies. The result uses the latest daily reference rate from the European Central Bank. Use “Swap currencies” to convert the other way.
Getting a good exchange rate when traveling
- Pay in the local currency when a card terminal or ATM offers to charge you in your home currency. That “dynamic currency conversion” usually adds 3–7%.
- Use a card without foreign transaction fees where you can.
- Avoid airport exchange desks, which tend to have the widest margins.
- Compare with this rate: the difference between the reference rate and what you're offered is the real cost of the exchange.
Rates are provided for information only and come from the European Central Bank via Frankfurter.
