Frequently asked questions

How much goes into EPF and ETF each month?

At least 20% of your total earnings goes into EPF: 8% from you and 12% from your employer. Your employer also pays 3% into ETF. On a salary of Rs. 100,000, that's Rs. 20,000 into EPF and Rs. 3,000 into ETF every month.

What interest rate does EPF pay?

The Central Bank declares the EPF interest rate each year based on the fund's returns; in recent years it has been around 9–11%. The calculator uses the rate you enter, so try a few rates to see the range of outcomes.

When can I withdraw my EPF?

Usually at the retirement age of 55 for men and 50 for women, or earlier when leaving employment permanently, migrating, or in some other cases. Partial withdrawals for housing and medical needs may also be possible.

Are the projections guaranteed?

No. They assume the same interest rate and salary growth every year. Real interest rates, pay rises and job changes will differ, so treat the result as an estimate.
