How much can I reduce an image's size?
Photos straight from a phone or camera can often be reduced by 60–90% with no visible difference. Images that are already compressed, such as many web images, shrink less.
What quality setting should I choose?
Start at 75%. That's usually invisible to the eye for photos. For email or websites, 60–70% is often fine. If you see blocky areas, raise the quality.
JPG or WEBP?
WEBP files are typically 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same quality and work in all modern browsers. Choose JPG if the image will be used in older software or must work everywhere.
Can I compress PNG files?
Yes. PNG screenshots and photos are saved as JPG or WEBP, which is far smaller. Note that transparency is lost with JPG; choose WEBP to keep it.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Compression happens entirely in your browser, so your images never leave your device.
