Frequently asked questions
How are pages counted?
When the document was last saved by Microsoft Word, Word's own page count is shown. Otherwise the pages are estimated at about 500 words per page, which matches single-spaced 12 pt text; double-spaced text is about half as many words per page.
Are footnotes and headers counted?
The count covers the main text of the document, including tables and lists. Headers, footers, footnotes and text boxes aren't included, which matches how most word limits are applied.
Can I count several documents at once?
Yes. Choose or drop several .docx files, and you'll see each one plus the total, which is handy for translation quotes and writing assignments.
Is my document uploaded?
No. The documents are counted in your browser.
