The final grade formula
Needed = (target − current × (1 − weight)) ÷ weight
Write the weight as a decimal: a final worth 25% is 0.25. Track your overall average with the GPA calculator.
Find the score you need on your final exam to reach the course grade you want.
You need on the final

| Course grade | Score needed on the final |

Needed = (target − current × (1 − weight)) ÷ weight
Write the weight as a decimal: a final worth 25% is 0.25. Track your overall average with the GPA calculator.
Required score = (target grade − current grade × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight. With a current grade of 82%, a target of 85% and a final worth 30%: (85 − 82 × 0.7) ÷ 0.3 = 92%.
Then the target grade can't be reached with the final exam alone, unless there's extra credit. The table shows the highest grade you can still reach.
Your grade in the course so far, before the final, as a percentage. Most online grade books show it. If your course uses points, divide your points by the possible points.
Combine everything that's left into one weight. For example, if a project worth 10% and a final worth 25% remain, use 35% and the result is the average score you need on both.
