Frequently asked questions

How do I type special characters?

The easiest way is to click a character here to copy it, then paste it with Ctrl+V (or ⌘+V on a Mac). On a Mac, you can also press Ctrl+⌘+Space for the character viewer; on Windows, press Windows key + . (period) for the emoji and symbol panel.

What is the Unicode code point?

Every character has a unique number in Unicode, written like U+00A9 for ©. You can use it in HTML as ©, in CSS as "\00A9" and in JavaScript as "\u00A9".

Will these characters work everywhere?

Almost all of them display on current phones and computers. Very new emoji may show as an empty box on older devices that don't have them yet.

Can I copy several characters at once?

Yes. Each character you click is also added to the “Your text” box, so you can build a string and copy it all at once.
