Frequently asked questions

Can I edit the existing text in a PDF?

Yes, for most PDFs. Choose Edit text and click any line of text: it's covered with a box in the page's background color and replaced by the same words, which you can change. The new text uses a standard font, so it may look slightly different from the original. Scanned PDFs are pictures of text and can't be edited this way. Use Whiteout and Text instead.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is opened and edited in your browser and the edited copy is created on your device. Nothing is sent to us or stored anywhere.

Which languages can I type in?

Any. Text in English and other Western European languages is added as real, selectable text. Other scripts, such as Sinhala, Tamil, Hindi, Arabic or Chinese, are added as a sharp image of the text so they always look right.

Can I remove something from a PDF?

Use Whiteout to cover text, images or anything else with a box in the page color. The original content is still inside the file underneath. To remove sensitive information completely, convert the edited PDF to images with PDF to JPG and back with JPG to PDF.
