Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. Converting keeps the image exactly as it is now, but can't restore detail that JPG compression already removed. What it does do is stop any further quality loss when you edit and save the image again.
Will converting to PNG make the background transparent?
No. The JPG's background stays as it is, because JPG has no transparency to carry over. You'd need an image editor or a background remover to make areas transparent.
Why is the PNG file bigger than the JPG?
PNG uses lossless compression, which keeps every pixel exactly. For photos that results in larger files than JPG's lossy compression.
Are JPG and JPEG the same?
