Frequently asked questions
What are PDF bookmarks?
The clickable list of chapters or sections in a PDF reader's sidebar (also called the outline). They let readers jump straight to a part of a long document.
Can it make the bookmarks for me?
Yes. “Find headings” takes the biggest words on each page, which are usually the headings, as that page's bookmark. Check them and edit the names before saving. “One per page” adds a bookmark for every page.
What is the contents page?
An extra first page listing your bookmarks with their page numbers. Each line is a link, so readers can click to jump there, on screen or in any PDF reader.
Are existing bookmarks kept?
The PDF's own bookmarks are loaded into the list when you open it, so you can change, reorder or remove them. The list you save replaces them.
