Count how many words you've written with the word counter.
Words per minute counts every 5 correctly typed characters, including spaces, as one word, then divides by the time in minutes. This standard “word” makes results comparable whatever the word lengths. Raw WPM counts everything you typed, including mistakes.
Around 40 WPM is average. 60 WPM or more is good for office work, 80 WPM is fast, and professional typists reach 100 WPM or more. Accuracy matters too: aim for 95% or higher.
Learn to touch type without looking at the keyboard, keep your fingers on the home row (ASDF JKL;), and practice a few minutes every day. Focus on accuracy first; speed follows.
