Shrink a photo or signature to under 20, 50, 100 KB or any size for online job, exam and government applications.
Make each image smaller than
Size in pixels and format
With both width and height set, the photo is cropped from the centre to that exact shape. With only one, the other follows the photo's shape.
Reduce a photo to 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB
Online forms for jobs, exams, visas, university admissions and government services often reject photos and signatures that are too big. This tool shrinks each image to just under the size you need while keeping it as sharp as possible.
Pick the maximum size, for example 50 KB for a photo or 20 KB for a signature.
If the form asks for exact pixels, open Size in pixels and format and enter them.
Choose your images and download the results.
Tips for application photos and signatures
Sign with a dark pen on plain white paper, take the photo in good light, and crop close around the signature first with Crop Image.
For an official passport or visa photo with the right background and size, use the passport photo maker.
Very small limits (10 to 20 KB) work best for signatures and small photos. A large photo squeezed into 10 KB will look blurry.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a photo smaller than 50 KB?
Choose the photo, click 50 KB (or type any size), and download the result. The tool tries many quality settings and, only if needed, makes the picture slightly smaller in pixels, until the file fits under your limit with the best quality possible.
Will the file be exactly the size I chose?
It will be just under it, usually within a few percent, because forms reject files that are even 1 KB too big. The result card shows the exact size.
What size do online applications usually ask for?
Many job, exam and government application forms ask for a photo under 50 KB or 100 KB and a signature under 20 KB or 50 KB, often as a JPG. Always check the instructions on the form you're filling in, including the required width and height in pixels.
My form also asks for a size in pixels. Can I set that?
Yes. Open “Size in pixels” and enter the width and height the form needs, for example 200 × 230 for a photo. The image is resized to exactly that and then compressed to fit the KB limit.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so your photos and signature stay on your device.
