How to split an image
- Choose a photo.
- Pick a grid (for an Instagram profile) or slides (for a carousel). The numbers show the order.
- Download the tiles as a ZIP. For a grid, post the highest number first.
Want one square post instead? The social media image resizer fits a photo on a square without cropping.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make an Instagram grid post?
Choose 3 × 1 for one row, 3 × 2 for two rows or 3 × 3 for a big nine-post grid. Download the tiles and post them starting with the last number: Instagram puts each new post first, so posting tile 9 first and tile 1 last puts the picture together on your profile.
What is a carousel split?
A wide photo cut into side-by-side square slides (1 × 2, 1 × 3 and so on). Posted as one carousel, people swipe across the photo like a panorama.
Will the tiles be square?
With “Square tiles” on, the photo is cropped from the centre so every tile is exactly square, which is what Instagram grids and carousels need. Turn it off to split the whole photo into equal pieces of any shape.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo is cut up in your browser and the tiles download as a ZIP file.
